About me

I am a Medical Physicist with background in therapeutic Radiation Oncology and research interests in the area of Radiation Oncology Physics, thermal medicine, medical imaging, computations and medical ultrasound device research and development.  Currently, I  hold the position of an Associate Professor at the Department of Biophysics and Medical Informatics at Bukovina State Medical University (BSMU) .

I started career in this field in September 2002, when I joined the group working on the problem of the ultrasound treatment of ischemic stroke.  I completed this program in August, 2006 with a Ph.D. degree in Physics/BME from  the University of Cincinnati.

Later, I received training in therapeutic Radiation Oncology Physics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock, AR. Along with clinical duties,

I also participated in several research projects concerning the use of thermal medicine in combination with ionizing radiation for treatment of oncological patients.  Results of these investigations were presented at the scientific  conferences and published in the peer-reviewed journals.

Currently, I teach the undergraduate curriculum course on Medical and Biological Physics to first-year international medical students from India, Ghana, Nigeria, Jordan, Kenya, UK, and Canada.  Research projects I am working on include computer simulation of thermal processes in biological tissues, image processing in MATLAB, and characterization of thermal properties of tissues.
